US administration will reduce the financial assistance to Armenia in fiscal year 2010, American Armenian Association said.

US administration will reduce the financial assistance to Armenia in fiscal year 2010, American Armenian Association said. President Obama’s budget calls for $30 million in U.S. aid to Armenia, down 38 percent from the 2009 allocation of $48 million, APA reports quoting Panarmenian.net.

The budget project doesn’t contain an article about the financial assistance to Nagorny Karabakh this time. In 2009, the United States allocated $8 million to the Nagorny Karabakh Armenians. In Foreign Military Finance spending, President Obama has requested $4 million for Azerbaijan and $3 million for Armenia, while funds for International Military Education and Training (IMET) represent break in the parity, with $900,000 being proposed for Azerbaijan and $450,000 for Armenia. Executive Director of the American Armenian Association Brian Arduni expressed his dissatisfaction and said that the reducing of assistance to Armenia was not understandable while the assistance was increased for Azerbaijan, which had billions dollars of oil and gas incomes.
